It is most important to build these models in order otherwise it is like trying to learn to roller skate in a buffalo herd. Earlier we talked about Chord factors. For a 1 frequency, which is the basic Icosasphere this factor is 1.05 To use it multiply the chordfactor times the radius of the sphere to get the chord length (Radius is 1/2 the diameter). For our model we will be building a 19" diameter sphere (this is approximate in order to make the cutting measurements come out even).
So for our example 19.05" dia./2 = 9.525 radius 9.525 x 1.05 = 10.00125 or round down to a Chord length of 10"WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Measuring and marking tools (ruler and pen or pencil)
- Nice big piece of cardboard (Approx. 60"x 30" for method A. or 1 pc. 60" x 10" & 2pcs. 20" x 20" for method B.) if large cardboard is unavailable cut measurements in half 5" instead of 10"
- Hot Glue Gun
- Good utility knife that uses razor blades. I like the ones used for wallpaper as they are fairly safe and blades are easily changed
Do not use these drawings as patterns. They are not to scale. They are for reference only.
INSTRUCTIONS:
There are 2 methods of making the first model (or 1 frequency).
Method I
Layout cardboard to match the figures. You will need 1 of figure A and 2 of figure B. Add in dotted lines - layout each triangle. Make sure to measure and cut as accurately as possible to make the best looking models. CUTTING: Only cut around the outside of the figs. After doing this cut along dotted lines - But only cut half way through. This will allow the pattern to bend on the dotted line like a hinge. Limber it up a little but only fold in one direction. Bring the two ends of figure A together and hot glue in the shape of a cylinder. Glue the edges of fig B into a cone shape, and then glue on top of the cylinder A glue the other on the bottom and then you're done!

Method II
Layout cardboard to match the figures. You will need 1 of figure C. Bring all the edges together and hot glue.
